Press Release - PA GOP
HARRISBURG – Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason was disappointed that President Barack Obama is abandoning our country in the midst of two wars, a critical health care debate and a struggling economy to travel to Copenhagen, Denmark to lobby for his hometown to host the 2016 Summer Olympics.
“After months of telling Americans that we could not wait another day for government-run health care, President Barack Obama has decided to put his hometown before the country he was elected to lead,” Gleason said. “With game-changing decisions regarding health care, Afghanistan, and cap-and-trade looming on the horizon, surely the President has some more pressing issues than personally inserting himself into a debate over the 2016 Olympics.”
“Republican leaders are determined to keep the government’s focus where it belongs - on the needs of the American people. They remain committed to standing up and fighting for policies that embrace economic growth and protect our freedoms.”
“It’s time for President Obama to stop fumbling with our country’s top priorities and refrain from wasting millions of taxpayer dollars to use the power of the presidency to trying to swing the Olympics to his friends. Barack Obama needs to realize that he is not a state Senator any longer!”
