Aichele for Lt. Governor fundraiser brings in more than $100,000

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review

Chester County Commissioner Carol Aichele will run for lieutenant governor in next year's Republican primary, she said today.

A fundraiser hosted today for Aichele by former state Supreme Court Justice Sandra Schultz Newman brought in more than $100,000, according to her campaign. She is serving her second term as commissioner, and previously was elected Chester County Controller.

The former math and science teacher, and school board member, served as chairwoman of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission.

Some prominent Republicans, including Allegheny County party chairman Jim Roddey, have urged former U.S. Attorney Pat Meehan to run for the job, with state Attorney General Tom Corbett at the top of the GOP ticket.
