Candidate of reform
Candidate of reform
Having had the chance to visit with so many residents, as I've knocked on over 18,000 doors, I wanted to share with our whole community what I've said in my visits on doorsteps and in homes.
In both my professional work and my time as a volunteer, I have been fortunate to work with many talented and dedicated public servants and volunteers. Whether in government, from the township level through my work with Congressman Gerlach, or in my volunteer efforts with civic associations, environmental and education organizations, and even as a Little League coach, I have seen the best our community has to offer.
I have seen government work to help our families and businesses… and I have seen government harm families and businesses as well. With your support I promise to go to Harrisburg to be part of the solution. We need to focus on common-sense goals and make sure that the public good outweighs petty partisan bickering. (You can see more information at www.Guyforpa.com.)
My platform is based on reforming Harrisburg — including leading by example (no lobbyist gifts, no staff bonuses and transparency in budgeting), helping create jobs in our region and across the state, and keeping good doctors here in Pennsylvania.
I have offered common-sense, workable solutions. And I have heard your ideas about the need for government to be results-oriented and accountable. As a husband, a parent and a taxpayer, I understand our concerns. Like you I am more interested in solutions than in who gets credit.
Like you I expect government to live within its means. Our region has had good, honest, hard-working public servants from Carole Rubley to Earl Baker to the late-Senator Bob Thompson. I would be honored if you would allow me to follow in their footsteps.
We have a long "to-do" list in Harrisburg. But with your support I pledge to begin on day one to use my experience in government and the advice that so many of you have given me to begin the fight for reform, and help fight for our local issues such as managing our deer population, fighting the lease of the Pennsylvania Turnpike by foreign, private interests and opening Route 202 for improved transportation in our region.
