On December 18, 2024, despite objections from residents, Democrat commissioners voted to raise property taxes by 13.47%.
The lone Republican Commissioner, Eric Roe voted no, but Democrats pushed it through anyway, citing “budget needs” after years of overspending and draining leftover COVID relief funds. Additionally, over $500,000 was added for new executive jobs, including the hiring of a Chief Experience Officer and more spending is planned on pet projects.
